Dogs and Boats and Airplane Choir
This fall I worked with Big Pond Small Fish and their Dogs and Boats and Airplanes Children's Choir. The choir was made up of students from Lord Lansdowne Public School and da Vinci Alternative Public School. Over the course of 3-months, lead by Bill Burns, supported by Krys Verrall, Alan Gasser and scientists at the Royal Ontario Museum, the students researched, wrote and performed a 4-part libretto at the ROM on Sunday December 4.

I've been selected for this inaugural Jeannie Thib Mentorship Residency, which allocates studio access, materials and mentoring. You can read more about what I'm going to do here.
The Last Things
Materials sourced from the flea market play into the exhibition which draws inspiration from the 1987 dystopian novel by Paul Auster. Set in a speculative future of an urban post-industrial wasteland, it follows Anna, a collector who scavenges and sells useful found objects.
The text embedded in this work is a form of communication for those who come after. It reads, "General feelings of loneliness linger / you must get used to doing with as little / as you can lets see where the night goes".

Canada Council for the Arts - Professional Development Grant
Thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts for the Professional Development Grant, which has afforded me the opportunity to take various printing workshops at Open Studio this spring and into the summer. Below is their blurb that acknowledges their fundamental support to the arts. I can't help but notice the last time I posted a thank you that their funding was 157 and not 153 million. Let's hope that their new funding strategy and the current government rectify this (which I think is in the works).
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, which last year invested $153 million to bring the arts to Canadians throughout the country.
Nous remercions le Conseil des arts du Canada de son soutien. L’an dernier, le Conseila investi 153 millions de dollars pour mettre de l’art dans la vie des Canadiennes et des Canadiens de tout le pays.

LEGS, TOO, - ARTSCAPE SANDBOX in cooperation with FADO
I'll be presenting Impossible Conversations at LEGS, TOO, an all-day performance art relay. The form of the event is dictated by a chosen duration (in this case 8 hours), which is then divided equally by the number of performance artists from the local community who have chosen to participate.
Participating artists are invited by other participating artists, snowballing a self-organizing event that is disinterested in traditional curation. Founded on a belief in community trust, performative dialogue and artistic self-determinacy, the resulting collective event lets participating artists be responsible not only for the continuous stream of idea- and image-making, but also for the realization of event itself. There is no staff, no coordinator, no stage manager, only artists working together.
October 3, 11am- 7pm at Artscape Sandbox.
Contemporary Craft - Pittsburgh
I'm exhibiting Ephemeral Sculptures as part of Community Voices at Contemporary Craft, Pittsburgh, PA. The exhibition, September 18 - December 7, is a companion exhibition to Mindful: Exploring Mental Health through Art.
